What is a professional coaching service?

How can it help you? How is it different from counselling or therapy? You can learn about this below. For enquiries, please call me at Lilitalkabout.

"Coaching is a partnership where the Coach partners with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the Client to maximize their personal and professional potential. It is both Client driven and focused on: setting goals, creating outcomes, and managing personal change (ICF, 2020)."

Identifying Who You Are For A Fulfilling Future

“Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximize their own performance.” John Whitmore

Distinguishing from other fields Coaching is not consulting, therapy, counselling, or mentoring: it is distinctive in that it is client-focused and non-directive. Coaching differs from both counselling and therapy/psychotherapy because: Coaching is “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential” (source ICF).

Coaching is forward-focused, and the purpose is to work towards a goal / desired future state and how you can get there from the present, whereas psychotherapy tends to look at the past and the emotional state to understand the present. Furthermore, Coaching is an intervention that works with those who are psychologically classified within the medical model as “normal” and are psychologically well, whereas therapists often work with those who are experiencing psychological illness/distress symptoms.

Coaching can help you find answers within yourself. It offers you a space in a period of time to focus on yourself. It helps you re-visit your core values and re-evaluate your choices.
